A recap of the Congressman's activities (and inactivities) for the past two months:

In a year-end mailer to constituents, Rep. Andy Harris says he is “working hard” to “strengthen” the Social Security and Medicare programs that “Maryland’s seniors” depend on.   The mailer does not explain what exactly Rep. Harris did to bolster these programs.  Examination of the congressman’s record this past year suggests not much.

The Congressman’s legislative actions during the last month.

Congressman Andy Harris votes mostly NO in the U.S. House of Representatives– even when the bills being voted on could benefit voters in the First Congressional District. Even bills that have substantial bipartisan support, do not seem to get Andy Harris’ support.

In April, The Congressman continued his pattern of voting no:

The Congressman spent the latter part of February and much of the month of March 2021 voting no, giving credence to his reputation as an active member of what has been labeled the “far right no caucus” in the House of Representatives.  https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/03/19/emerging-far-right-no-caucus-house.   The Congressman’s official website does not explain how he believes his “no” votes reflect the values of or will benefit the citizens of the First Congressional District.

The Congressman spent a good part of the first month of the new year attracting media attention.

When Congressman Harris first ran for office in 2010, he pledged, if elected, to leave by 2023. https://www.baltimoresun.com/politics/bs-pr-pol-andy-harris-trump-20201218-f3efl3ct7zf5pgrin6xd7z44ea-story.html.  Assuming he keeps his word, he is entering his last term.  It’s not clear if will change his mind about term limits.  Regardless, it is important for voters in the First Congressional District to keep track of what he is doing.
